TRL Connected and Automated Mobility - Safety Assurance Tool (TRL CAM-SAT): Online webinar for Highways and Local Authorities

06 July 2021 online

Date and time: Tue, 6 July 2021@13:00 – 14:30 BST

Location:Online event

The trialling and testing of CAM technology is a fast-changing and rapidly evolving domain. One key requirement for any CAM trial is to provide robust safety assurance. There are a wide range of stakeholder groups involved in CAM trials and as a result a number of different approaches have been adopted for the safety assurance of CAM trials. This has led to an inefficient and burdensome process for all parties.

Project Endeavour is a mobility project designed to accelerate the scale and adoption of autonomous vehicles across the UK. TRL are one of the members of the project consortium working specifically on the dedicated workstream on the safety assurance of AV trials.

Within the project, TRL engaged with a range of key stakeholders who are involved in either developing or reviewing safety cases for CAM trials to get feedback on the safety assurance process. On the basis of the feedback gathered, TRL have developed an online tool that can be used to guide and support stakeholders involved in the safety assurance of CAM trials. The tool provides a consistent and simple approach to safety case and trial acceptance which will deliver a range of key benefits including:

  • Reducing the burden and complexity for safety case reviewers
  • Keeping stakeholders up-to-date with standard requirements and good practice
  • Maintaining consistency in requirements for safety assurance across various stakeholders
  • Ensuring smoother transition between different CAM trial locations
  • Protecting IP for testing organisations

The Event

In advance of the launch of the tool, TRL are organising a series of webinars to invite relevant stakeholders involved in the safety assurance of CAM trials to provide a demo of the tool and canvas your feedback.

In the webinar we will cover:

  • An overview of safety assurance for CAM trials: requirements, challenges and solutions
  • A demo of TRL Connected and Automated Mobility - Safety Assurance Tool (TRL CAM-SAT)
  • An open discussion to canvas your feedback and answer your questions.
